5 Hidden Business Expenses to Unmask

| Posted in Bank Blogs

What’s one of the biggest signs of a successful business? The answer is simple: cash flow. Having enough money to meet your expenses will not only help ensure business longevity but also help you sleep better at night.

But inflation and other economic factors can cause expenses to creep up, potentially putting a dent in your cash flow. What’s more, some of those expenses can be lurking in places you don’t expect.

Here are some places you can find them:
  • Software and other subscriptions. Subscription services for software, apps, and other services can really add up but are often forgotten about. Take a look at your credit card or bank account transactions to determine if any of the subscriptions you have can be eliminated.
  • Banking fees. Make sure you check for account fees, credit card annual fees, statement fees, and other charges.
  • Insurance. Review your liability, health, and other insurance coverage, and get quotes from other companies to see if you can reduce your premiums.
  • Inventory. Take stock of your inventory to determine what is moving slowly or not selling and make the appropriate changes to your ordering or production.
  • Payroll and overtime. Review your staffing expenses to ensure that your payroll expenses align with your business needs and of course, your cash flow.

Alone, these expenses may not seem like a lot. Together, however, they can really add up. By unmasking your expenses, you’ll take a major step toward ensuring your business is financially healthy today – and in the future.
